Load Capacity
Always choose a tripod rated for at least 1.5× the weight of your scope. Underrated tripods flex and vibrate under load, ruining your image.
Material
- Aluminium: Heavier but durable and affordable
- Carbon fibre: Lighter and better vibration damping — worth the premium for field use
Head Type
- Fluid head: Best for birding and wildlife — smooth panning for tracking
- Ball head: Quick repositioning but can be jerky for tracking
